Starting at $595 they could wind up just like the original. Good if you like RETRO!

It won't end up like the original, if you are speaking in terms of success and whatnot, because you can get a more powerful system for a lower price.
And it can be used in far more ways, and in numerous positions for the comfort-seeking types. Get a SFF system, put it by your TV, get a good wireless keyboard and mouse, and it's an even better setup, and still cheaper. No need to keep that thing uncomfortably close, and it's hideous. That company is going to need to offer a more modern style and approach if they want to actually rake in revenue.
The small media center style PC would be a better approach, and with the right marketing angles, could be very successful.

It's only going to get money from people who are happy to spend money to relieve their past, and the people who are genuinely interested by this approach. IMHO, it's a terrible step back and I'd never waste my money on it. ;)

The new Commodore 64's hardware includes a dual-core 1.8 Ghz Atom processor, Nvidia Ion2 graphics chipset, up to 4 GB of RAM and HDMI output for desktop viewing on TV. It also features USB connectivity, a multi-format memory card reader and Wi-Fi capability.

So its actually a Commodore 4096000. :hmm:

That much money and it doesn't even include a Fast Load cartridge? WTF!

I'd buy one if it came will every C-64 game on it, but it doesn't so I'll stick to my filthy dirty C-64 that I still own :)

Yeah, these things are total rip. You're just putting out a crap load of money for a fancy case.

the keyboard has Cherry switches, which means it will be very nice to type on. $250 for the case considering it has such a high quality keyboard makes it a decent deal in my eyes.

If the keyboard comp had a Core i7 2600k and a decent GPU (I'm thinking like a GTX 485m or Radeon 6970m) I'd jump all over that shit.
