We'll be there between X and Y ... why do they always show up at Y?

How many times did you have to wait around for say a delivery or a cable guy in a given window, say between 10-2. And 100% of the time they end up showing up at 1:45.

Why don't you just tell me freakin' that you'll be here between 1-2?

I'm waiting for delivery company who said they'll be here between 8-12. It's now 11. 2 days ago I had to wait for a cable guy betwwen 12-3. He showed up at 2:45. :|

Hehe, I had a cable guy come yesterday. Was 8-12, showed up at 11:45. I was almost ready to ring the cable co. and check if he was going to show up at all.

Better than we got. We had 12-5 and he never showed up and never called. We called the company and were told to wait. Waited until 7 an nothing. Called back and they don't know what happened.

Call back next day and ask what's going on and they say they can schedule a new appointment a week from then :|

And now we have DSL.

Hell no. Sometimes they don't show up at all.

That's the reason I don't have FIOS right now. They were supposed to come to install it between 3-7 so I left work early. They just never showed up or called or a nything to let me know they wouldn't be coming. Then a few days later they kept calling me to try to reshedule the appointment, never saying they are sorry they missed it or anything. After about 2 weeks they stopped calling. Fvck verizon and their fios. I'll take my 10Mb over FIOS for now (at the same price) in principle.

You need to hamstring your cable co. into needing something from you (a signature per se). Then give them a time range when you'll be home and pull the same sh!t.

We had Dish Network do the same to us, so now we have DirecTV.

I did have one good experience with those delivery windows when I had my cabinets delivered. They said between 10am-12pm, and they showed up at 9:45am.

Almost got caught off guard by Fry's on a fridge delivery last time. The time was supposed to be 9-1, and they arrived at 10. They gave me a call and glad I was only 2 minutes away from home.

I was a cable modem installer for a couple of years. I guess you're just unlucky, or something. When I went in each morning to get my work, it was divided into chunks:

8-12
1-5

I'd leave the office around 8:00, and always be at my first job no later than 8:30. Yes, this does mean that each day I'd show up to my last job around 4:30 or 5:00, but oh well. That's how it works.

and then the one time you figure "I'll just get home at 11:30 and still be 15 minutes early", the rat b@stard shows up at 11:20!!

Actually this is how it works.

They say they will be there between x and y. Then show up at y + 2 hours.

I had a guy coming out between 11 and 11:30 to give me an estimate on a new furnace and A/C. I left work at 10:45 and get home to find out that he's been there since 10:30...

Yep.

First call for them not showing up they gave us a $20 credit. Called the next day and demanded they come and they said they couldn't and gave us another $20 credit.

Then we signed up for DSL @ $17.99 / month and everything works fine. Cancelled the cable installation.

Same exact scenario happened to me when I originally got Comcast. I called at 11:45... only to have them tell me that the installer didn't find anybody at home. I told them that I'm calling from the install location, I've took off from work, been there all morning and that I've had nobody come by. I open my door to find a "Missed Install Appointment - Please re-schedule" note on my door. WTF?
