well i come home from an early work shift and see my road blocked off by a bunch of firefighters and police...thinking the worst i put down my window and ask the nearest cop what happened and if i could still get to my house...

turns out a contractor truck came by my developement and had latters sticking up off the back...they hit and snapped these power lines that went across the street to another poll about three houses down...
luckily its the houses after mine that do not have power anymore....so i pull into my driveway and see my phoneline just hanging there (luckily i dont have dial up or dsl) over one of my bushes....

so anyway i hit my garage door opener and it goes up a bit and then nothing...so i am thinking somethings wrong with my power....turns out nothing it when i go in through the front door, i still have all lights and everything...in a weird twist of events it turns out the garage door chain that is attached to the motor snapped and came off...so now i have to fix that....

Anyways i have some work now that i was not anticipating doing but oh well...just posting on here delaying going to home depot and waiting for when they fix it....

you guys want to see pics...not much to see except the trucks and the lines in the street i cannot get near...i think they are almost done

sorry for the random post

I couldn't help but chuckle at the comment on quality of things. This is after your post where you used:

latters instead of ladders
poll instead of pole

and
"turns out nothing it when i go in through the front door" which makes no sense.

Now, you may not care about typos, but I just had to wonder if the person who worked on the garage door opener didn't care about what he was doing also. :D

I see this happen once with dump truck. Silly driver take off with bed high in air! Must be over 30 feet tall! He contacts 13.8kV line (7.5kV - ground) and sparks everywhere like firework celebration. The arcing set hydraulic lift fluid on fire and this causes great panic and wall of pink flames everywhere with roaring note worse than eminem bass pedal!

This guy made it, he was lucky!
