Welcome to the New Xbox Experience!

Hmmm, that seems awful early to put this site up. On the major nelson podcast, they have stated numerous times that the Live downtime scheduled for tomorrow is to get ready for the "NXE", but it will not be ready for download until "later this fall". But hell, we're almost into October. This starts the main push towards holiday, so I'm sure they want to get this out ASAP.

A bit of a let down for me, just some creepy clay doll lady telling me that I need Adobe Flash Player. Come on Microsoft, it is supposed to be SilverLight not your competitor!

They are putting out more and more info the the new Dash. Gamerscore Blog, for example is doing weekly highlights of certain features of the new Dash.

The new Dash is coming in November as I earlier predicted. The date was slipped in a screen for Rock Band 2. link. There was an interview the other day with an MS exec that let slip the November date as well (can't find the link now).

If I could place a bet on the exact date, I'd say at the same time that Gears of War 2 is released.

I'd imagine itd come either a week sooner or later than GoW2- the last thing they want to do is release a full system update and deal with a potential bandwidth crunch and unforseen bugs when a game is coming out thats going to bring a ton of people back onto XBL.

Well, I'm just thinking that the biggest game release of the Holiday season for the 360 would be the perfect time to release the new Dash. Maybe just before it.

Yep, that would be sweet - I cant wait to get my hands on both of them, and having the party system and hd install of the new dash ahead of time will make GoW2 all the better.

What is the point of your post? First you say it's too early to release this information and then you say it's just around the corner. Huh?

After the Xbox live disaster last holiday season, I think they need to be a little wiser about their bandwidth requirements.

They increased their bandwidth capacity tremendously after that incident. They were able to handle GTA IV without a blip. I imagine they're building capacity up still because they are anticipating bigger sales this holiday because of the new price points.

Xbox.com and the Xbox Live® service are currently down for maintenance.

and they will be down all day

Yep, they told us a coupla weeks ago. Bummer tho. hopefully we will get a free month or something.

I don't see them giving a free month or anything of the sort for a planned downtime. You're lucky if you get anything for an unplanned outage...

I don't see why anyone even wants a web browser on their console.

Yeah, instant virus as soon as you connect to the web on the 360. Wipe out all DLC.

Me either. If you're home then get on the computer, it's not hard.

I don't understand why this "new xbox experience" thing came out.. I got the email and thus I thought that this downtime was for them to do the update. There was no update though, so it was just maintenance... but then if that is the case, then why send out the "new xbox experience" email? There is no new xbox experience, at least not yet... /boggle.

They're building up to the release. As I said earlier in this thread, they've been doing spotlights on certain parts of the new Dash and other things for a couple of weeks now.

i just want to be able to use Netflix with my 360 without messing with that PlayOn. Could care less about the UI.

What's your current care-level status and how much less could you care?
