Ok I know you've been back about a week & I missed your 1st(?) post in ODs stats on the 20th but Im making up for it now😉

Welcome back Rick 😀

Now where the heck did you dissappear to for the past 2.5yrs!?:Q😉

Btw for those new members whose wondering what the fuss is about he used to be 1 of our top guns & a very active forum member ,not to mention 1 of the original members of TA...then he just vanished!.Oh & also I have been looking/keeping an eye out for him all this time!😉

When did you join TA Rick?
I see your crunching again for us already😎

Thanks for the Welcome Back.

Not sure exactly when I joined TA but it had to be close to May 22nd, 1999 when I did my first WU.

Ragic is my mage's name in Everquest which is one of the things that absorbed quite a bit of free time the last couple of years. Still have it but don't play much anymore.

Recently just decided to look in on SETI again and got the bug. All the systems I run SETI on are my own. Right now trying to decide if it is worth running SETI on my old AMD K6's (tooooooooooo slowwwwwwwwwww) or P2-233 or Celeron 333. My BP6 Dualeron died and still trying to figure out why but might just donate it to the BEOWULF.

Gonna give maggotry, teriba, and Jhutch a run. They all are nipping at my heels.

Rick😀

Hey hey,

welcome back mate, one of my old Seti saprring partners....

Still going to call you Ragman though !!!

Welcome back! 🙂

Not sure if you remember me (I used to be ConfusedBW), but it's been a long time, I vaguely remember some chat about you! 🙂

Ragman 🙂P😉)
I've still got running in my little fleet the PII 333 that I assimilated nearly 3yrs ago! (old faithful!:Q) ,though its now overclocked to 374MHz.Running Win2k this old steamer gets about 15hrs/WU.If you can run your Cel 333@374 too you'd get similar times.I think the PII 233 would do WUs in about 18-20hrs & the K6's (k6-2s?) at the absolute fastest with 1Mb L3 cache would do WU's in about 25hrs.

Btw what have you got running so far?

Hehe, we should just have a thread for those of us that go wandering off for a while to post to when we happen to come back around 😉. It HAS been a long time Ragman, and its good to know that you are still alive and kicking. I don't feel quite so bad about going awol for 6-8 months at a time now 🙂.

Duh..forget that last post with nothing on it. Thought I was logging in but was also posting.

Assimilator,

Currently I am running a Celeron 1.2 (Powerleap), P3-600, P3-650, Athlon 1400, Athlon 1600. Last night I just built a P4-2.4 So my WUs should take a jump. Trying to decide what of my old systems (if they still run-lol) are worth running SETI on or cheaply (key item) upgrading.

Took me hours to get the new system up last night. First couldn't get it to power up because I was using the wrong pins for the power swith. They were an even-even pair instead of an even-odd pair (helps to read the motherboard manual). Then the hard drive I was gonna use was from my old Dualeron and had both NTFS and 2 FAT32 partitions on it and I could not get FDISK to repartition it. Finally found a program (IBM) that just clears it all. Then after I got it up and loaded with WIN98 I kept get NDIS general protection faults. Turned out there is a bug in WIN98 on CPUs higher than 2.1Ghz and I was using a wrong load CD(WIN98 First Edition). Once I found what the problem was and found my WIN98 SE CD and got it reloaded I was able to finally go to bed with SETI running on it. Still have a ton of driver (video, BUS, etc) updates to do but that can what till I get home from work tonight.

None of the systems are overclocked or tweaked yet. I will do that after getting the fleet going full steam.

Rick..Ragic...RAGMAN...Not sure who I am anymore..LOL

Though I've never crossed keyboards with you before I too would like to welcome back one of our original members. 😀

Since your account was a "Name Change", I didn't include you in the "Welcome New Member" thread. If I had known the entire story I certainly would have done so.

So a belated "Welcome back, Ragman, now known as Ragic on both the Forums and the Seti TeAm!" 😀

Interesting about the Win98 bug ,didn't know that one!

Btw if you have any Slot1 or S370 BX or VIA mbrds Upgradeware make a Slocket T & S370GU which allows Tualatin cpu's to run in most of them🙂.Plug in a Celeron T (which is virtually the same as a PIII but on 0.13u fab & 100MHz FSB) & you have a cheap fast upgrade over an old PII/III.PIII Tualatins are too expensive to make it worthwhile unless you can find a cheap 2nd hand one.The Cel T's go from 1.0A-1.4GHz.These adapters btw are much cheaper than the powerleap ones🙂 ,though they don't give a seperate power supplie for the cpu.

I've got a Cel 1.1A@1.39GHz in my old Soyo 6BA+III (BX ,slot1) & a Cel 1.1A@1.46GHz in my mates PC with a Soyo 7VCA (694x,S370).
The Cel @1.46GHz is doing average WU's in about 5hrs 25mins🙂 ,thats with CAS 2-2-2 RAM.With the PIII 933@1015 it had it was doing average WUs in 6hrs15mins.No WU times from the 6BA+III yet.

Sounds like you had a long night! ,I see you install programs in the same priority as I do ,OS,SETI,drivers etc😉

Amok
Yeah we're gonna keep you 2 on a tight lesh now!😉😀

Welcome back ragman ! 😀
Long time no see !!! 😛 🙂

I hope you'll enjoy crunching SETI with us again ! 😉 😀
