Thanks for the welcome back messages. 🙂
Yes, I arrived back not a moment to soon. You probably read in the SetiQueue thread where a power failure on Saturday led to the shutdown of a bunch of computers and the Q. Got all of that fixed by this morning.
After unloading the car I was determined to get three weeks worth of bugs and road tar off of my Lexus. A power sprayer was not enough as I had to use Bug 'n Tar Remover and some good old fashioned elbow grease. Getting that done I decided to go ahead and finish the job and give it a good wash job. I almost passed out with exhaustion. I hadn't done that much physical work in years and the thought of "old guys checking out while doing strenuous work they were not used to doing" crossed my mind more than once. 😛 😀
I spent this afternoon cleaning up my son's computer. The Blaster Virus completely invaded everything. There were all sorts of spy-ware, tool bars, and stuff that he said he had no idea where they came. After getting the computer running properly I had to redo his LAN. My granddaughter's wireless connection is still not working properly but I decided to put that off until another day.
I want to give a special thanks to Crazee for handling the "Membership Administrator" duties while I was gone. In fact I think it is about time a younger guy took over the reins and I can't think of a better replacement. 🙂
I want to also thank JWMiddleton for handling the Sunday morning weekly SETI REPORT. He's doing such a good job I think he too fits the description of a "younger" guy taking over. lol 😛 😀
Man, is it nice to sit in front of dual lcd monitors being run by a 3+Gig system with a second 3Gig computer on my left as a backup ... all with a super fast DSL connection. God bless all of you still working with 56K modems (and I know there are a bunch 😉). I forgot how tedious that really was. IMHO, Laptops (notebooks) are really neat but they will never replace a good desktop.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome back. I'll get around to catching up on the other threads a little later. 🙂
