Welcome :)
So what do you crunch with?

welcome chapbass :)
Sorry to here about your grandfather :(
Nice C2D rig :) ,have you tried for higher than 2.8GHz?

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I've just got a little Linux web server that I set up to run seti@home. It pretty much runs it 24/7. My server isn't very busy other than just supporting my little website with the blogs that my wife and I keep. It's an Athlon 1400XP if I recall correctly, so nothing super-high speed, but every little bit helps I guess. I'm hoping to upgrade it soon, so things will crunch along a little faster then.

Also, quick question. I keep seeing my name listed for "expecting results from". Pardon my ignorance, but am I supposed to be reporting something? I just installed the software, added the TeamAnandTech to it and said go. I thought all the reporting was done automatically. If I need to do something, please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to out TeAm, ap1978!

@engineereyore: SETI will report its results once in a while automatically, no need to take any actions. Only, if you want to see your creds right away, you can do a manual refresh. How often SETI reports results, is commanded by your "connect to network every X days" setting on the SETI site.

:)

Summary:
The DPAD-TeAm has been joined by 19 crunchers.
The Seti@Home TeAm has been joined by 19 crunchers.
The Folding@Home TeAm has been joined by 99 crunchers.
The Rosetta@Home TeAm has been joind by 23 crunchers.

A total of 158 new crunchers have joined TeAm AnandTech in these projects. That is just great!

All are very welcome!

In this post I have checked the stats to see which crunchers have joined the TeAm. I also check the posts in this thread ...
If new crunchers have joined other projcts, please let me know. Those who keep tabs on stats - if you see new crunchers, post in this thread please!
If your name is not listed, please be patient: your results may not have made the stats yet (sometimes that takes quite a few hours), or I have not had the time to check the stats or I have not yet updated this post.

Joining the TeAm is not hard, but sometimes things may go wrong. Therefore please make sure that you follow the instructions carefully. E.g., when joining DPAD, please put the [TA] in front of your name, when joining Folding@home choose TeAm 198 and with BOINC-projects please join the team by going to the team page and thre clicking the Join team-link.

Please post if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or just to say hello!
We will do our best to answer. If you want to chat or to NEF, please look in the please delete-thread ... ;)

Oh, and any errors are - of course - mine, so let me know ...

This is a jubelee-post: it is one month since the recruitment thread was posted in all the forums at the Anandtech-site!
I have also modified the post: all new members who have joined in the first month of the recruitment drive and whose names have been posted previously are now mentioned in the "Attache code" - window at the bottom of this post. In that way the post will not be so long and it may be somewhat easier to scroll ...

About MalariaControl:
No, it works quite OK. I crunch a WU now and then ...
But it is a low profile project ... the admins do not communicate that often. and malaria is not exactly as inspiring as seti or rosetta. :(
There is no stats-master keeping a thread alive, not much of a discussion going on.
That is needed to keep a project populated ...

The production is not large - but there are still 8 TeAm-members who have added credits to the TeAm's total during the past week, take a look here. (12996 cobblestones in the past 7 days ... :( )

I'll join in for a while with F@H. Normally I'm folding for another team but since Anandtech is one of the main sites I read I'll help with the push for 21! Folding under name Alyyx. 5GHz of Core 2 Duo goodness and a graphics card.

It is six weeks since the recruitment thread started.
I'll be back with some more stats in a few days ... when I have set up my main computer after moving to our new home. :)

Hey everybody,

Just got into folding and decided to join Team Anandtech. Running folding@home, Rosetta@home(BOINC), Einstein@home(BOINC), and Spinhenge@home(BOINC) on 6 (soon to be 8) computers. It makes me feel good to put those old computer to a good cause.:)

Just a question, for those of you that run clients 24/7, what kind of extra power usage should you expect? Also, just to get an idea, how much more are you guys paying for your electric bills? As of now, I am running 2 computers dedicated to folding/BOINC, but I also installed clients on 3 other computers.

I just dont want to be suprised when I get that electric bill :(

A C2D system with an efficient PSU and no other power hungry components has a total power draw of about 100W. Unless my math fails me badly that's ~900kWh for an entire year of crunching 24/7.

You should take a look at this test of real system power requirements @ SPCR for reference.

Welcome to the TeAm, Denbo1991. :)
