But nobody knows for sure? I get emails like this all the time on in my yahoo inbox, making it past the junkmail filters. I also get a lot of other weird ones, like emails with absolutely no subject and no content sent from unknown return addresses. 😕

I see someone else here suggested they're trying to see if your address is valid (bounceback detection). For what purpose though? Why not just send your intended spam and detect the bouncebacks that way, if that is indeed why they do it?
