Weirdest pc cpu fan glitch

For some reason sometimes when I restart my pc the cpu fan just stops. To get it to work again I have to shutdown then boot up again

You never say how old your HSF is. I'd suspect the power supply though.

Always mention the power supply as culprit. It sounds more like a MB issue to me.

It could be, but the power supply is the first thing I'd check out. A failing power supply may not be adequately providing power and is causing the issue described above. And yes, it could be the motherboard.
