I have TWC in LA, CA and recently upgraded to MAXX 200/20 with an Arris TG1672. Since this happened, programs on my hardwired main PC running Windows 8.1 will randomly disconnect from the internet.
For example, I first noticed it when playing World of Warcraft (WoW) and would keep getting disconnected. I thought it was a WoW problem so I contacted their support and did numerous line tests, but everything was fine. I also contacted TWC who claimed everything was fine.
I then noticed that it wasn't just WoW disconnecting. The voice chat I use (Mumble) would also disconnect. Get this- the disconnects do not happen to both programs at the same time. Meaning, I can have both WoW and Mumble open, but if WoW disconnects Mumble will still work and vice versa.
Things got even more weird when I noticed that it seems this disconnection problem only happens during or after I have "alt-tabbed" out of the game, and that it only happens when a web browser is open regardless of it being Chrome or Explorer. Meaning, I do not experience these disconnects when a web browser is not open.
I have not noticed any other problems with any of my other computers/devices on the network. One thing I did notice was that the main PC that has this problem did not create a "network 2" whereas all other PCs on the network did after installing the new modem. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I want to put out as much info I can to get this solved.
Please let me know if more info is need and how I can go about getting this resolved. Thanks!
