Ok I hope someone can help me with this. This problem is infuriating! I have had it happen now several times. I am running win 7 64 bit, and dual monitors if that matters. Anyway, for a few days now, I turn on the computer from a cold boot and let windows come up and then after a few minutes I come back in the room and try to use it. I click a icon and the computer shows the work icon a second or two and then nothing on the screen...nada...zip! I can do this with any program I want to, and nothing shows up. Now I can see all the icons and desktop fine. When I cntrl alt delete into the task manager, the computer shows the programs loaded into memory! so where the heck are they? Windows programs such as media player, windows explorer, internet explorer these all work perfectly as always. If anyone knows how to fix this bug or issue I will be very grateful. I have not run across it before. Thanks in advance!

huh? No I'm saying EVERY application does this, not just some of them. The only ones that ever work are just the microsoft applications that are integrated into the shell etc. But sometimes if you reboot they all work. It's either all or nothing, reinstalling would not help the first bit. I guess I will unhook one of the monitors and see if it fixes it. If so I guess it is a multiple monitor bug or something.

Have you tried updating your video drivers to the most recent version available?

Alright thanks to those that helped. I figured out the issue! A little while back I had installed a cheap bluetooth radio like they sell on ebay for .99 cents or whatever. It had been working fine, but i remembered that it had done a windows update to the driver recently. Anyway anytime the bluetooth is plugged in and the drivers are loaded I can replicate the app launch problem! If I take it out everything is great. So I guess maybe it is faulty, and I just need to find a better radio, or either the windows update broke it. Windows update on7 sometimes sucks. It keeps breaking my silverlight on my htpc computer where netflix won't work! At any rate thanks again, it is nice to have things running good again.
