weird Win32 problem?

wheneva i try to open a textfile (.txt)...i get this lil pop-up box with this:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Angel Chan\Desktop\New Word Document.txt is not a correct Win32 Application."
but any other documents are fine...if i changed the extension to (.doc)..it opens fine...but i was just wondering..
so if anyone knows what kinda problem i'm having..hope u'll help me out~
