I've always had this and shrugged it off, but seems recently it's more noticable especially on a white window. It looks like more light is being produced in that area.

What would cause this, and is there anything I can do to fix it? At worse I might just swap monitors as my side one usually has a full screen terminal window for my coding, and it does not show on black, but just wondering if I have any options before I do that.

I think it might be my cat's fault, she likds to push herself on the screen lol (I usually stop her but it could be she did it when I'm not around).

Is there a reason LCDs don't have glass on them? I've always wondered that. It would make it so you can touch it without damaging it. I lost count of how many times my mom has pointed on something using her nails. Makes me crindge.

Oh and it's NOT a power book. (that's all I'm getting in Google) It's a Acer AL 1916,

this is a guess but your LCD's backlight might just come through stronger in that particular area

for example, I have an Acer P223w and there's a slight blue tinge at the bottom of the monitor that I notice when the screen is all black

in terms of why LCD's don't have glass on, I would guess due to reflections. I personally like glossy finish, but the market is dominated by matte finish LCDs
