Weird VMware3 behavior?

I haven't used VMWare in a while, and never on the windows platform.... Anyhow............

The host OS is windows XP and the guest OS is win2k. There is a physical win2k domain controller on the network that the winXP host is not a member of. I'm trying to make the win2k guest join the domain of the server, which it does..... but VERY slowly. It took like 15 minutes to join and 20 minutes to login..... its DAMN slow. When not a domain member the speeds are very good, even when accessing files and such of the said server.

btw, I've tried making the winXP host a domain member to see if there was a difference, but there was none.

I'm setting these up and plan to run multple VM's to simulate a win2k environment for test purposes.... I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.
