Weird Vista/IE7 problem

So I installed vista the other day, pretty slick so far but for one thing, IE7.

So I'll be browsing and seemingly at random IE7 will give me DNS errors for 95% of the sites I go to, anandtech forums being one of the few oddly 🙂

I know the connection is still good cause my VOIP works and bittorrent works still, just IE7 just wont load most websites. After awhile everything works hunky dorey again. *shrugs*

And Weirdest of all is the fact that sometimes one IE7 tab/window will work but the other wont?!?!

Any ideas guys?

EDIT!!!!!

S'posed to say "anandtech forums being one of the few I can visit oddly enough"

Strangly the edit button dont work either

*Edit!!! (slightly later)*

Firefox does the same thing. and I should mention windows XP (yay dual boot) never fails in internet'isms.

Also later noted, all websites die within time

Torrents may not require DNS, you may need to hard code your DNS servers in your tcp/ip settings. If that doesn't fix it, the next time you have this issue go to the command prompt and type ping www.anandtech.com and see if you get an error unknown host.

well I tried hard wiring the DNS in there and at first thought it had fixed it, but no....

Pinging sites gave me an 'unknown host' error, and if I try pinging my router I get a "General Failure" error

Do you have a firewall/router or are you directly connected to the web. For dns, you can try using 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 those are public dns servers. good luck mate 🙂

well I havent had oodles of time to fix the prob lately. But I have found that doing the 'Reset network adapter' option that pops up now and then seems to fix the problem
