weird video with inspiron 9300

please see above screen shot. as you can see, the display is quite weird looking....this is a brand new lappy....whats goin on?

Which screen did you get? WXGA or WUXGA?
Set res to 1440x900 if you got WXGA or to 1920x1200 if you got WUXGA.

Edit: Oh and make sure you are at 32bit color, not 16.

res was ok....i had to turn the DPI down in advanced property settings....looks great now. I cannot understand why dell would ship a laptop at that DPI setting....it looked awful!

Ah so that's it. Some of the Ferrari 4000 screens have been doing the same thing.

Same thing with my 600m...they shipped it in a really stupid setting.
