weird video problems???..need advice!

every so often my computer locks up on me, but thats not the weird part, when it does, my window(whatever window I'm in)will just slowly dissappear from top to botton, and the icons on desktop will show through and then icons turn black.It doesn't happen all the time wich is why I have a hard time diagnosing it. I'm sure my video card is dying, But just tonight I found that whenever I went to WWW.WRIV.COM, the first page will load fine the the second window will show with some flashy advertising and when i close out the second window then thats when my screen goes weird and locks up[ on me have a 550E@693 16mb voodoo card,sb live,10G quantum HDD 7200rpm fireball plus, soyo 6ba + IV mobo, 256mb pc100 ram,ME OS. If someone can checkout this page and tell me what type of web application that is happening when this occurs?, I'd really appreciate this and will a new video card help resolve this?.....Now this happens even when my 550E is runnging at 550, not overclocked and I virus scannned for viruses and theres none....

The second window is a Javascript popup window. I can't find the source, but it appears to be a standard Javascript program- nothing too fancy. I know you probably already know this, but the first step to perform when a Windows system goes flakey like this is to do a fresh install of the OS and drivers. I mean start from scratch- BACKUP FIRST, fdisk, format, the whole enchalada. If the problem persists, then it is possible that your video card has a bad memory module, and is locking up when it tries to address that memory location. You may want to borrow a 16 MB Voodoo card from a friend and swap with yours to see if it is the drivers/OS or the hardware. Good luck.
