Weird video problem

Installed a game that requires DX8.1. I only have an integrated video on the mobo (on this system).

Installed the game, ran it it and ran fine.
Got out of it, went to run it again, and the video was shifted to the right, with the half of the left side pixelated.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it, reran it, and it ran fine. got out, and a few days later ran it again, and same problem. Otherwise, the computer works fine.

WinXP PRO 256 ram

o/b 64 meg video.

Any ideas?

Not enough information !!! what's the onboard videocard ?? is it a Geforce? is it a SIS videocard it may be just not capable of playing that game 100% or it could require new drivers.

Can anyone tell me if its possible to make onboard video or an agp video card upgraded to a higher version of directX?

On another system, I have a 4X agp Geforce2 MX400 card. I believe it is only DX7 compatible. Will it run any games saying requires dx8, even if computer system has dx8 installed.

Can this card be made to run dx8 by just updating drivers, or something, or do I need a new video card?

if bying new video card, is it wise to buy one that is dx9 compatible, and not one just dx8?

Yes, the gf2 mx 400 will run a game that requires dx8.1

when a game says "dx 8.1 required" the graphics card does not need to support dx 8.1 features, you just need to have dx 8.1 installed (these days at least....who knows about the near future)

go to start-run and type dxdiag....if you have anything less than version 9.0b, run windows update and get the newest version
