Weird Video driver/monitor problem

I have a NEC FP1375x monitor and a gainward ti4600 video card. The problem is if I try to update the Nvidia drivers (anything released after May), My monitor will not turn on or show a picture when I reboot after I install the drivers. Anyone have any ideas on what is going on?
