Im having a weird problem with my new computer setup. I recently installed Windows 7 pro on my new system(EVGA Classified X58 mobo, 5970, Win 7 64bit pro, Intel 160gb ssd, 12gb ram, cosmos s case). When I installed win 7 I had several usb devices installed(keyboard, mouse, printer, display port adapter, usb camera dock). All of those devices work great. After I had Windows 7 installed & try to plug in any other usb devices such as my portable hd or usb drive, I cant get them to work. Windows will make the "device connected" noise & it will show up in device manager with a yellow exclamation point & it always says the drivers for the device is not installed. I tell windows to update the driver but it always says it cant find driver software for my device. I thought this was just a problem with my front I/O panel but I get the same results if I try to plug a USB device in the rear USB ports on the motherboard backplate.

Im at a loss-any suggestions?

I tried unplugging all other connect USB devices one at a time-no dice. The funny part is that those devices are recognized immediately & the drivers renistalled.

I also unplugged all the front I/o panel cables from the motherboard & that didnt help as well. I dont know if this is a motherboard issue or a Windows 7 issue?

Looks like I fixed it. I had to disable USB legacy support in the BIOS
