I mean who knows for sure, but for those snarkily saying, "Well, just go meet the guy!" are a little naive, no? I mean what's a 5 minute chat really tell you?

That does seem kinda odd, unless he's like the son of one of the higher ups or something along those lines and just happens to have connections that brought him there. I don't know the structure of the girl scout camp specifically but been to various summer camps and there's usually more than one leader/counselor around and I think it would be very hard for anything bad to happen as you are very rarely alone. The schedules tend to be quite tight where everyone needs to gather in one place for an activity, etc. Counselors need to be at certain places at certain times too.

Long story short, he's probably just there for the cookies.

Is this any different or worse than having a gay troop leader in the Boy Scouts?

It says a lot about a society/people when an older guy is a Girl Scouts troop leader and their first thought is, "is this guy a pedophile?"

Christ - just go talk to the guy. Sure it's harder than making assumptions and stalking the guy on social media but it's the adult thing to do.

Yes, because every creeper you heard about on the news story begins with "you know, i met him and TOTALLY thought he was a pedo, totally gave off those creeper vibes but I still was down with my kid being around him." You can't tell, it's always "he was such a nice guy.. Just a regular guy." Listen, we all prejudge and his SINGLE status and no kids are enough for me, the back tattoos are an extra warning sign because i'm a firm believe that excessive tattoos are a sign you shouldn't supervise my kids because I don't trust your decision making process..

yeah those guys are a shady bunch

side note: "the shady bunch" would be a good name for a tv show or something

So what's stopping you from talking to that male troop leader and voicing your concerns regarding your daughters? Don't make assumptions based on his appearance and be biased.

They'll be safe at the Catholic church....

Does seem a bit odd. In general, I'm sure you have/will had some conversation with them about other people being inappropriate. Read somewhere that 1 in 9 girls will be molested by an adult.
Doesn't the Catholic church prefer boys?

Right - as opposed to the always serious and totally dependable insights of ATOT... You'll just find the echo chamber responses you want to validate your reaction and dismiss or argue the ones that conflict.

Oh no! Not a single person with no kids! Good thing we never let those people near kids as teachers, day care workers, bus drivers, nurses, doctors or anything! If anyone gets divorced or widowed they get kicked right out of those jobs and any volunteer positions as they should be.

We'll at least you don't paint people with a broad, generalization brush or anything
