weird tire wear

Alright so I have Conti DWS on my G35, 26k later with rotations every 7k

I am down to 3/32nds in the middle and up to 5/32nds on the edges. all the tires have the same deal. They are inflated to 35 and when they drop to 32 I put them back to 35.

so I don't understand how I got over inflation wear with normal psi. Car sticker says 32

Was hoping these would last another 10k oh well.. just I don't even understand how that works.

10% is 10%

So your saying 10% of extra pressure made ~50% of the tire not touch the ground?

5/32 edges, is that inner, outer, both? G35 has factory camber for better cornering, but it kills tires. -
.

Its both outer and inner, I know it has factory camber, even more with my car being a bit lower than stock, but camber does not seem to be an issue. 1.2 degrees is what I am at.

Is your G on lowering springs? I cant remember.

On Revised Z springs, 1inch in the front half and inch in the back

I am trying to understand why this is happening.

On my G35 I had to redo the alignment after I put in the lowering springs. In a second Gen G you have to get a camber kit to get within actual spec if you lower at all. Have them align to coupe specs.Sure you will have lots of negative camber but it should wear ok. Guy on g35 driver turned me on to that.

When I didnt have a shop I used to buy the lifetime option on alignments so I could get it redone every season for no extra dough.

You got 26k miles, seems good to me. My wife got 18k on her G35 on contis and she's not what I would call an aggressive driver.

The G is an expensive car to maintain, besides the tires it rips through brakes. Not exactly as expensive as some other cars but by no means cheap.

Maintenance to me is pretty cheap for a G compared to other cars in its class. Sure a Corolla is cheaper but its in a different class.

My wife is more agreesive on braking and overall wear than I am and I spend more than a little time WOT.

What? That guy isn't even in this thread.

The higher pressure makes the tire bulge across the tread slightly. This wears out the center of the tread faster.

The G was about $1,700 a year, assuming you prorate the tires.

Just replaced the rear dws on my g35. Got roughly 18k out of them, ran them 33psi, never rotated(front and rear tires different size). Tire wear was exactly as you describe, outer edges still good, inner section worn almost through the D in DWS. Fronts mounted at the same time, run at the same psi, and never rotated haven't even worn through the S yet. I've got Kumho Escta 4x on there now, we'll see how they hold up.

^ Interesting, I am looking at the Escta 4x for replacements to the DWS. Trying to find a tire that lasts 30k+ lol

How are they so far?

I've only had them for about 300 miles. So far dry grip seems better than the DWS, wet grip is about the same. My only gripe is that they seem to hate being cold, they are super rough/bouncy until they get warmed up. Then again the roads are so crap around here its hard to tell.

I'd be happy if I could find a set that gets 25k. The most I've ever gotten out of a set was 21k on some Toyo T1Rs and they were completely shot in the back. For a tire with 540 wear rating the DWS sure did run out fast. It should be noted that 98% of my driving is city.
