Today, I replaced my c433 with an PIII 450 (for testing) My RAM (128 pc100 MB singlesided) was CAS 2 (according to an error message i got booting it as CAS 3) Swiching to 100 MHZ with the pIII all of a sudden it became CAS 3 memory (same error message)
The PIII processor was able to hit 129 MHZ on an Aopen pro gold with v770 ultra, i wasn't even able to push it to 110 FSB (weird ?!) the damn thing booted, but windows didnt load completely
Now i have one last problem: since swiching processors my computer doesnt always boot, as a matter of fact, the only thing it does is power the fans and showing 4 red lights. killing the power, waiting, trying again...boot! (??) trying to type this text...black screen...rebootswich...no reboot...unplugging...waiting...boot (all fans were working fine, (celeron)cpu is currently 34 C
UPDATE: I pulled the processor out again and noticed a small scratch on one of the contacts, luckily not through... I've put it back in .
now it works fine, I think there was bad contact somewhere...(?)
q1: what is the cas2/cas3 (latency?) is it normal to change when raising bus?
q2: what is the re-not-booting thing?
