so i was fiddling with the frequencies a bit and discovered the following.
when "manual overclocking" is enabled in the forceware drivers, even if no clock adjustments are made, the idle temp rises by ~8C. i even tried underclocking my GT, and the temps still rose. as soon as i turned off overclocking (by selecting "no overclocking") the temps dropped back down.
i'm thinking maybe, regardless of what you set the clocks to, enabling "manual overclocking" increases core voltage, thus leading to higher temps. my multimeter is broken so i can't measure it
