Weird thing just happened in Win2K when I tried exploring a CD.

Ok, I popped in my friends AutoCad2000 cd right? And wanted to EXPLORE the cd so I could copy all the contents to my harddrive (for backup purposes 😉) and then all of a sudden, my screen goes black and a blue screen pops up.. with some stuff on the top left of the corner... forgot what it said, weird stuff. Then the computer reboots.

?!?! Damn that is some effective copy protection if I ever saw one! (even though the cd is burned hehehe).

Anyone ever have a similar experience???

Doesn't sound like weird stuff, just sounds like Windows 😛 I have seen it do some pretty weird stuff with reading CDs and even modems....Just remember with windows, reboot is always the best option!

Memory Dump.

Just go into my computer, right click on the CD and select open instead of double clicking.

Sounds like you've never used Win2k. It crashing on you is weird stuff. 😉

Bulga thanks... but I never double clicked on it. I knew that if I did that, the installation/auto setup thing would start. So instead, I went into Windows Explorer, right clicked on the cd drive and chose Explorer.. and then that thing happened.

Zeeliv, UGH... you don't know the half of it. Check this thread on my recent troubles with Win2k. I'm paranoid right now, loading each program slowly...then checking for any problems. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=34&threadid=305937
