Weird temps...

My temps are usually around 35 - 37. After two hours of Farcry and Doom3, my temps go up to around 45 (which is normal). Usually temps drop back down after like 5 minutes post-gaming, but today they stay around 40 - 41. Weird.

Also, why some days my CPU idles at around 35 and others it idles at like 39?

Those are ok temps. Dont be worried. Usually the temp fluctuates because of the surrounding room temperature. I can open my windows during cold weather and my temps can drop 5-7 degrees easy.

Hmm ok. I'm not worried about the temps, I just don't know if my MBM or sensors or whatever are working properly.

EDIT: lol I loaded up MBM Settings and my temps jumped to 43, then back to 40. I hate computers.

Also, does setting MBM5's interval to 1sec instead of 5sec have any effect on the comp?

Hum interesting. I have a AMD64 3200 Winch... running on a Neo2 P and I get exactly the same temps as the original post indicated. I am currently oc'ing my chip to 2300mhz (10X230) and my system idles right around 34-37C. Then when playing say two instances of EQ1 it gets around 45C. However what blows me away was that I was getting well into the 50+C when I had that retard auto overclocking feature enabled in the BIOS. I am still very sceptical of whether the temps are even correct though, they fluctuate too often especially when my temp in my office is constant.

In this regard if I am to add a few more fans? where would be the most effective place in your case if you already have a 120mm one blowing out in the back? and one cooling your HD? I have the Sonata case so to the best of my knowledge I have nothing sucking air in from the front?
My ATI 9800pro shows artefacts all the time when getting tested and I have NEVER oc?ed that. I hate that Sapphire piece of junk?. Anyhow I may actually somehow rig a fan to blow on that hunk of silicon to try and cool it down. When I run the 3dMark05 I get white ?snow like? effects on half the tests? especially when that weird green light runs around.. white dots everywhere. Then I get nothing like that when you see the firefight.

Voltage wise, still trying to figure out the Vcore thing in the bios as I manually set mine to 1.5 V and then 3.3%+ in the other setting effectively reaching 5.495 V. CPUID says 4.72 or something.. Huh?? WTF? thought it was supposed to be close to 5.5.

Check for dust and other crap in your CPU heatsink. You can knock off 5 or 10C if you clean a really grubby heatsink.

Also, the temperature depends on the ambient temperature of your room. Being winter you might have the heating on so air coming into the PC case instead of being 20C may be 25C which would cause this slight raise.

Really nothing to worry about either way...
