Weird smell from my computer...

So we smell a very nasty rubber burning smell...and everyone in the living room can even smell it
eventhough room is far away. I went into my room and the comp is off. It smells real bad rubber burning.
I dared myself and turned on the puter...it boots up and i'm online in 45secs...smell kinda dissipates and
thats it. Computer works and runs like normal...no probs at all.

So what do u think?...will i one day wake up aflame or what?...
 
i looked inside it looks fine...i have it on now obviously and am typin...
i checked inside all the fans are working...all stuff works...sound, video, monitor...dunno what else..
and my family keeps coming into the room to complain it still stinks...

seems it comes and goes..., 😕

i'm confused as sh1t

You sure it was the computer? Open your case up and check to see if anything got inside or if a wire shorted out, maybe. You don't want to fry the computer or set the house on fire...

You sure it was the computer? Open your case up and check to see if anything got inside or if a wire shorted out, maybe. You don't want to fry the computer or set the house on fire...

my case has a case window and i can see inside...all looks kosher..and i did open the case up looked fine.
i touched all them wires and cords...all cool to the touch.
 
Seems like the smeel when my washing machine burned up from getting clothes stuck in the drain and tied the middle spinner so it couldn't move, and it burned out the motor.

Weird. Maybe a bug got sucked into the fan or crawled on to the processor, if it is the computer causing the smell. ::shrug:: I have this desk light with a bulb that gets REALLY hot, and one time a fly managed to get stuck between the glass shield protecting the bulb and the bulb itself and burned up in about 5 seconds flat. One of the worst smells I've had the displeasure of inhaling...
