ok heres the problem...after random amounts of time, i seem to be getting strange lag spikes to sites and servers ever since i networked my 2 comps together using this router. when i ping a site from a dos prompt, it pings 30, then shoots to 600+, then back down again. also, when im playing online games (ex. half-life), the latency shown stays steady at 30-90, but there is very 'studdery' game play. i found that the only way to fix this is to shut the computer(s) off, turn the modem and router off. then i wait 5 minutes for pppoe to renew/authenticate an ip, turn my computer back on, and it is fixed (for a while).
more info: I have a Westel Wirespeed modem, and its hooked up to my barricade 7004abr's WAN port. The dsl I use is in a PPPOE cfg that is setup in the router. I have 2 Computers hooked up to the built in Switch on ports 1 & 3, and they both suffer from this lag, but oddly enough they don't get lag when they host lan games for each other. The router part # is 750.5432 . I recently installed the latest firmware, but it didnt fix this problem in the least. Should I even try to contact SMC? Anyone have ANY ideas at all??? well I know that someone will, the ppl in this forum are a great resource
. any help is very appreciated
