Weird skin condition

My wife has some weird skin condition and I was hoping the Anandtech Think Tank could help.

It seems that every time someone posts some obscure medical condition, lots of people here know what it is or have it themselves.

(My wife has a Doctors appointment so please dont post "She should ask a doctor not a bunch of geeks".)

Anyway, this condition causes her a lot of itching. The weird thing is that when she scratches her skin welts right up. I can write stuff on her and the letters raise up in a matter of minutes.
It's kind of like that horror movie where you saw something like "please help me" on some posessed persons arm. (No, I dont think shes posessed) 😀

It started out very mild after our second child was born about 6 months ago. We think it may be thyroid related. Up intil about a month ago it wasnt so bad but now it's driving her nuts.

Anybody here with the same condition?
Anyone know what it is?

Thanks.

is she losing weight?

is her eyes bulging out?

her skin turning yellow?

those are some of the symptoms of a high thyroid, along with the severe skin itching.

I went through that when I had Graves Disease, its very very very uncomfortable and it could be deadly because of the hyper thyroid. Get her checked by a specialist asap if she is experiancing these things.

Also, if she is, have her start wolfing down bananas, she will need to keep up her potassium intake, that's how I got pretty sick from this.

good luck, ask a doctor!!

I haven't noticed those things but she will be going to a doctor next week.

Thank you guys! I knew you would know.

And that Eczema looks like hell to go through. I feel bad for anyone with that. 🙁

Hopefully it isn't what I've been dealing with since my firstborn was a baby. I've had bad outbreaks of hives for over 7 years, if I don't take medicine every day, I will end up in the hospital.

That's crazy.

What medicine do you take?

Zyrtec, with prednisone as an occasional backup when I get especially bad outbreaks. I have an epipen for emergencies, but haven't used it yet.

Good luck with that.

Any chance of it just stopping one day or is it permanent?

You are both suffering from advanced dimensia due to untreated syphilis infections.

Takes one to know one, evidently. Your lack of spelling ability is a dead giveaway. 😛
