Weird screen flash when cutting a movie file

If I Ctrl-X a movie file to move it to another folder, the whole screen flashes black then pops back to normal. Only happens with movie files and it's bloody annoying. Is it something to do with Nvidia drivers or am I the only lucky person in the world?
