Weird Question: What's the better mattress?

a Serta Perfect Sleeper Comfort Quilt mattress @ $200

-or-

a (Sleepworld) Gold Plush-Firm mattress @ $100

I'm not sure if there is a make on that last one. 😕 They both include boxspring and frame.

Listen, Slate.com did an extensive article on this issue as to what is the best mattress. Their final conclusion after many, many pages: go for the cheapest mattress that feels right for you. There is almost no difference between mattress technologies -- only a marketing difference. They found that amoung the many levels of serta models there is very little to no increase in comfort for an increase of cost.

Of course you are the best consumer to listen to, right? 😉

My personal recommendation? Get a sheet of egg crepe (it's basically a big piece of foam with ripples in it) and put that on top of the mattress. Shouldn't be more than $10-20 at Target or Wal-Mart in their bedding section. My wife was doing this for years before I met her, and it's THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, as I found out the first night we got together. 😀 😉

check out the memory foam thread in hot deals... it's been going for quite a while...

I think askin' what's the best mattress is like askin' what's the best underwear. it's not something anyone will ever agree on because what's comfortable for me won't be comfortable for you.

Personally, I wouldn't own or sleep on any mattress that cost less than $1000. I can tell the difference between cheap and expensive mattresses. You spend approx. 1/3 of your life in bed. Make it a pleasant and healthy experience.

I sleep most of the time on an old couch..... 😀

decent beds are expensive. happypuppy is close to the point... don't skimp on your mattress. buy the best one you can afford, otherwise you'll regret it later.

sealy!😀

Whatever you decide to buy, just put a type "R" sticker on it and it'll look cooler!😉
