weird quality in movies on the pc

hey guys...

i have a problem which is quite annoying.
when i watch movie on the pc, media player classic or windows media player 12 i get bet image quality - like there arent enough colors or something like that (kind of reminds me the old windows 98 when you had weak gpu and you put 16 bit color profile.)

the movie is blu ray of 2012.
now when i play it through the tv attached it doesnt show those problems it displays the image just smooth and fine.

i've tried to reinstal the codecs (k lite 6.7 ) and it doesnt help

i thought it may be one of the shaders\filters enabled \ disabled...

help?

Possibly a limitation of your monitor.

It would be useful to have make and model of the monitor, video card, etc.

i have dell ultrasharp 2408 connected via DVI
my pc is:
core i7 920,6gb of ram, zotac gtx260

Check the video options in your graphics drivers as well. I know on ati cards there are certain options enabled by default that make video look bad, stuff like dynamic contrast and noise filtering.
