Weird problem with Windows XP network shares -- help?

I have a FreeBSD box setup as a network file server running Samba. I have a network drive mapped for the Samba share, and whenever I open certain large folders (my MP3s, for example) there is a 5 - 10 second delay before the folder will open. If I use Windows Explorer and navigate with the left side of the window, there is absolutely no slowdown at all. What do I need to change in order to not experience said delay?
