Weird Problem with TX motherboard system

I just formatted and re-installed my old TX motherboard with Win98 - however it will not boot into windows in normal mode 🙁
It will boot into windows in "safe mode" but not in normal mode - I'm almost pulling my hair out - can't see any reason for it to happen.
I have even tried booting with only the graphics card and formatting another HD with Win98 in the system 🙁
But still no go unless in "safe mode"
I've never had this problem before - any ideas?

- Try disabling UDMA in the BIOS for the channel the CDROM is on. Some CDROMs (BTC comes to mind) hang if UMDA is enabled. Also, try booting with the CDROM disconnected.

OK Power Joe I'll try that first - I was also thinking about clearing the CMOS too - but I've never seen this problem before 🙁

Well I cleared the CMOS and disabled DMA transfers in the BIOS works fine now but a bit slow - any suggestions - took me about 15mins to load IE5 from CD-ROM!
