The problem is that my equalizer wont work until I open up the Santa Cruz control panel. And even when I do that, the equalizer turns off after a few minutes. I'm running win xp pro with the 4161 santa cruz drivers. Anyone know how to fix my problem?

I had the same problem with the CD supplied drivers. Once I upgraded to the 4161 drivers (then the newer 4161 as there was a bug in the first ones apparently) the problem seems to have gone. The Santa Cruz control panel says the 4161 are actually 4158, and the writing is screwed up on the 'Other' tab, but all else seems well.

When I installed the newer drivers, I totally uninstalled the old beforehand. I don't know why it works now.

So I'm not much help... :(

Right click on the top bar and choose "save previous settings' or something like that.

Hmmn, this probably isn't too much help or on-topic, but I found that the TBSC's software equalizers weren't too much good. I prefered the sound without the equalization...much less distortion(especially the Bass Boost setting, what's up with that?)

Anyway, you should try completely removing the old drivers, then reinstalling the new drivers. Perform a check to see what version you have to confirm the driver version.
