Weird problem with my router

First off, my cable connection has been working great for 2 straight years. About 2 weeks ago it starts to act up, by that i mean, I can visit certain websites (i.e. yahoo , msn ) and I can't get certain random sites to come up (i.e. polo.com , losrios.edu ). After a bit of trouble shooting, I got my own computer to connect fine with the help of comcast. But the problem is I couldn't get my other computers to connect at all.

I check my network settings. I am connected to 67.161.181.34
I checked my other computers and they are connected with 169.and other #s, I heard that 169 is a invalid connection. Is there a way i can change the ip connection on my other computers?

Make sure this is not a spyware issue. 169 is windows way saying it is not receiving a valid ip from the dhcp of the router. Have you tried completely wiping the routers settings and starting over? What router is it?

i tried a few different routers and they all have the same results. Im using a netgear and linksys, don't know hte model #'s .. sorry

How exactly is everything setup? The router should have an IP address of 67.161.x.x if that's what COmcast is giving you. All your actual computers should have IP addresses of 192.168.x.x as assigned by the router. You could find if tiere's a little Reset button on the router to wipe all the settings out. And I too would try AdAware SE because spyware can do allkinds of random things...

but When reseting the unit unplug the WAN came from the modem, Cause its acting like a switch,

than hold the reset for 20 seconds.

once done, unplge the router for 10 sec

plug it back in

restart PC

check to see if therey getting a 192.168.x.x IP

once thats good plug in the modem to the WAN port of the router, and you should be online.

And I too would try AdAware SE because spyware can do allkinds of random things...

or the new microsoft one thats in beta works like a charm.

I tried resetting everything , modem / unplugged router and computer. My computer is still connected to ip that starts with 67 and the others are still with 169.
