I have a 9800XT video card made by ATI. Anyways when I either log off and change user accounts or if I've been idle for a while and my screen saver enables itself, once I come back to the screen my Outlook icon in my taskbar is a weird color. It does not change back to its normal orange color unless I do a send/receive to check for e-mails. Is this a broken video card or just something to do with Windows?

I installed the newest video card drivers available and it is still doing this. I'm hoping this is normal and not some isolated incident that will eventually break my card.

Here's a screen shot.

try changing the icon perhaps?
almost seems like you are running in 16 bit color and it's a 32bit color icon or something, but it shouldn't be displaying like that... strange.

Exactly! This seems to be happening on my girlfriend's profile/log in as well. Everything looks 16bit but it is set at 32bit. :(

This makes me a sad panda!!!

Usually when I upgrade major hardware devices I will reformat and reinstall.

You need to make sure you got rid of all the old video card drivers if you didn't do a freash install. Ilso what directx version are you running?

How does one get rid of all drivers and re-install everything again? I have not done this and this may be the culprit.

Google on Driver Cleaner. Latest version is DC2. Download. Install. Run. problem solved.

then google on "posting in correct forum." That's educational too. :p ;)
