weird problem with geforce2 and opengl

i have a p2 233 with 192mb ram, win98se, mobo is asus P2L97

i used voodoo2 on this system and getting like 30 fps in halflife so i went and got a geforce2mx i installed it and gets 12fps in diect 3d mode and froze in opengl

i formatted my pc and still the same thing, i tried many drivers for geforce. donno what's wrong with it.

i went to dxdiag and tested everything was fine.

do i have to install some drivers for my mobo or chip? cause i have no idea what causes the freeze. and also i tried to run glsetup, it said it couldn't install any drivers for it.

i'm suspecting there is some conflict with opengl since it freezes in q3 as well. but direct3d shouldn't get only 12fps in cs

if anyone could give me some suggestion as to what could cause this

It will only get 12fps if you are using the default settings.

You are going to have to tweak the card to up the FPS.
Your CPU is the problem here.
Start with turning down the lighting and textures.

30 FPS with the Voodoo card was pretty about what you could expect.

Changing the video will only help minimumly.
