i installed the program and whenever i run it to change settings or tinker, it'll close down automatically after 10 or so seconds. for example, it detected i had the worm blaster, i open avg to scan, and it just closes.

i tried reinstalling with no luck.

Maybe the worm is killing your AVG. You could try going to Microsoft's website, running the patch that kills the worm, then try AVG again.

I don't know anything about it, just a thought.

my friend had the same problem. he had the gaobot. norton would shut down when i tried to do a scan and it wouldn't even update. i ended up going into safe mode and updating his antivirus and rescanning.

patch your machine
use online scanner
try symantec for the specific virus, usually that have a single download that will search and kill the virus.

If you have blaster you have to use task manager(ctrl/alt/delete) to close the running program msblast.exe first to complete any on line task or av operation. Also find and delete msblast wherever you find it.

i have a problem with AVG FREE Version too. I tried downloading it multiple times. It did, but when i installed, its name was "RPG World Online." continuing with installation results in installing the game.

anyone else have this problem? its not virus related, because i scanned it using Avast.

ok well i booted in safe mode and ran all the updates.

it was running real well again (well avg still didnt work, but the internet worked well again). i decided to quit last night and continue tomorrow.

avg finds the blaster in "svchost.exe". and well i cant run avg.

ill try and run it in safe mode.
