Hi,

I brought my XFX 6800GT home to use for the holidays, and I'm getting weird video corruption and just plain freezing of the system. I plug it into my dad's AXP system and it works perfectly. I plug in my dad's GF4MX440 into the P4 system and it works perfectly too, and my dad's system has a 320W Topower PSU compared to my Enermax EG465 431W PSU, so it's not a power problem...

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks!

try reinstalling the drivers, make sure it's seated correctly, if all else fails, reformat windows (JUST KIDDING)

Does your case have good cooling?

Did you have an ATI card installed before the 6800GT? If so, it could be driver remnants.

Sorry to be so brief in my problem description. Anyway, it's not a driver issue since the video corruption happens right at system startup too, and nope there weren't any ATI cards installed in the windows installation before the 6800GT. My case has obscene amounts of cooling, so temperatures aren't a problem either. The GPU temp stays in the 60s in my case and in my dad's. It's really perplexing since it's not a power problem nor a Windows installation problem, which were my first 2 suspicions.

Actually if you have enough fans running it might be a power problem -- try unplugging several of them and see if makes a difference.

Tried that, as well as unplugging my optical drives, clocking back to default speeds/voltages, etc to minimize power loads, but still no go.

Are you using the 66.93 drivers on the computer that doesn't work? If so, try the 67.03 drivers, which reportedly fix problems with 6600GT GPU's, but the problems said to be fixed are the same as what we are both experiencing. BTW, the screenshot you posted is the EXACT SAME THING, COLORS, TYPE, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS as what I'm experiencing! As I said, try the 67.03 drivers and tell me if that fixes anything, just a thought. I would, but my card is being mailed off to XFX for another RMA :(
