Weird problem when upgrading from Win98SE to Wink2k

I recently upgrade my girlfriend's machine from Win98SE to Win2k and it's been mostly successful, except for one annoying problem. Before, under Win98SE, when she went to shutdown the computer, it would shutdown by itself in typical ATX style. However, now, under Win2k, it just gives her the message that it's safe to shut down the computer. What happened? Is there a setting somewhere that I can change? Any help is appreciated.

Go to Control Panel -> Power Settings (or whatever it's called), and choose "Enable APM" or Advanced Power Management or something similar to that.
