weird problem trying to burn dvds - copying em

for some reason it is saying the size is too big.

i have copied dvds before successfully but what could be the problem now?

sorry, im so tired at the moment and could only think of posting here

(i only copy them for safety reasons not for anything else)

What is saying the size is too big?

Is it saying that when you attempt to burn?

If so, it could be the media. Some DVD-/+Rs hold more than others.

I am assuming that if this is a DVDR9 you've ripped, you have shrunk it down in size?

well when its about to begin copying, an error message pops up saying the files might be too big for the disc.

i doubt its the dvd+r thats the problem, since they are at 4.7 gb.

im just trying to copy a movie to a blank dvd+r. i've done this before to other movies, maybe these specific movies have some sort of gimic. arggg ... im so tired right now hehe

thanks n7

You need to shrink a regular DVD down. Go check out how much space it's taking up. Usually DVD9 movies are like 7 - 8 GB. You need to re-encode and drop it down to ~4.7GB for a regular DVD+R/-R. Programs like DVD2SVCD will do that.

What program are you using?

DVD Shrink is not being updated anymore, but it will quickly analyze and shrink DVDs to fit on a blank disc if they are too large.

It sounds like you haven't re-encoded the video files to fit on a DVD5 disc.

BTW, in Windows, it's 4.38 GBs max on a DVD, so i always try to re-encode to about 4.37 GB.

Do a search for DVD shrink3.2

That?s all you need; the program is less than a meg in size and far better than the 100$ s/w apps that supposedly let you burn your DVD?s. This program will allow you to re-format your DvD to cut all the crap out, compress it and fit it on to 4.7gig media.
