weird problem regarding buddy list thing

so i have my buddy list with j0lly on it... and when i click on "no new private messages" or whatever else is there, i see the list, along with their status and whatnot. whenever i have a pm, the little lock thing next to the name of the person who pm'ed me flashes. well, j0lly's is always flashing, despite there being no pm's from him. what gives?
