I don't really floor my car from a dead stop any more because the MPG hit was killing me. But lately I have a bit here and there and I thought I noticed something. Wasn't sure if it was in my head but I paid attention today, and yep. Every time I floor it after about 3.5 seconds my Pioneer head unit will say "no device" and my music goes off, then a few moments later it'll show iPod and the music's back. I tested this 10 times, and every one it was the same thing. Initially I was thinking it might just be something wrong with my HU. But I'm trying to figure out if it could be something more serious. It never turns off, the screen stays on like normal, but the device disconnects every time I max accelerate.

Anyone have a clue here? I'm not so much worried as I am curious. I have the HU running to stock speakers with no amplifier or anything extra.

Where does your ipod cable hook up to the head unit? In the front of the head unit, or via a cable going to the back of it (inside the dash)? When you accelerate hard, perhaps something is loose and snagging the cable connection just enough to terminate the connection?

connector' on the back and the iPod's in my glove box. That's something it could be that I hadn't thought of.

does it do it when its playing the radio?

If not, just another data point that the ipod cable is loose.
