Hi guys

My system is rebooting by itself and I have no idea why. I need you guys help!

Ok my com is a 1600xp overclocked to 2100xp by pushing the fsb to 166 on a kr7a.

Ok I know my PCI and fsb is way out of spec. But I did use prime 95 OVERNIGHT it passed the torture test many times over. I had it on for like 9hrs striaght and no errors.

But today my computer rebooted when I used prime 95 again. So I increased the IO voltage up one notch and it was stable. I passed prime95's tortured test and 3dmark and play UT32002 for hours.

then Just 10 mins ago while I was just watching some video files it rebooted on me again!! this time I increased the vcore voltage to 1.825 and running prime95 as I type this.... does anybody know whats going on???

Sure this is not a windows problem? Whats the longest your computer as been on before restarting? I'd say put your CPU back to stock speeds, and see if it still restarts or not.

It can be a Power Supply problem. I was using a generic 250w power supply and the computer rebooted like crazy until I had bad sectors on my hard drive.:|:Q

That would be my first guess too. Check the voltage with MBM, both idle & under load. I'm guessing your 5v rail is sagging bad under load. The 5v and 12v rails should be within 5% of spec. Lots of systems perform well outside this spec, but an overclocked system is going to be more sensitive. Anyway, LMK what the voltages look like.

Does the board have a 1/5 divider? If not, a few of your devices might be running out of spec, crashing, and taking your comptuer down with it.

Hmmm I've been checking my 5v rails... it is fluctuating between 4.76 and 4.78 under load. That is not acceptable I believe.

And no my motherboard does not have 1/5 divider. But I think I have isolated the problem to the powersupply... the 5v is too low and usually locks up the computer when it falls too low.....

what you guys think? And whats the best (not too ex) powersupply out there?

Yeah, either way get a quality premo power supply. Everybody should have a nice power supply, can eliminate so many headaches. I would recommend and Antec (TruePower series) or Enermax just of the top of my hand here. Something atleast 400watts should be fine.

I was looking at an ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FM). 350 watt from newegg $55 shipped. Not sure whether this is good enough.

Yeah that's sounds fine, you'd still be one step ahead of the game with it, much better than a generic power supply IMO.

I would get a PS that is over 400W, don't waste your time with that 350w one. I have an Abit KX7-333R with a AGOIA 1600+ and my Antec 430watt TruePower almost can't hold it!

I also have an Antec TruePower 430watt PS w/XP1600 - on a EPOX 8K5A2+. I've had no problems w/combo so far? I haven't looked at my rails and voltages lately, but then again I didn't have a need too? Hmmm, maybe next upgrade I'll go with one of those 500+watters!

500watt!!! are u insane! :p. I think I will just wait and see what the hammers need. Apparently now my comp is stable. I've ran prime95, 3dmark, UT2k3 and other stuff.... nothing is happening. ( I increased the vcore to 1.825) and I lowered the Ramvolatage to 3.65 and the io voltage back to default and things are working out so far.

I'll probably buy a new PS. But I'll wait till the specs of HAMMER comes out and see what I need then I will buy.
