Weird printer sharing issue on OS X

We have two macs and a PC in our lab, and one of the macs is connected (via USB) to an HP laserjet with a duplex unit. There is also a network printer, which everyone can use.

We've been trying to get the other two computers to print to the duplex laser. After installing the appropriate drivers, the PC prints fine. The other mac, however, will see the printer, and install it..but then things go wrong.

There are no error messages, but when we try to print anything, it gets sent to the printer, then filed under "completed jobs" on the network mac. The one that's actually connected to the printer never sees the job at all, and the printer doesn't print.

Anyone experienced this before?

Are you sure that you have Printer sharing checked on the host Mac? What about the connecting one?

Both of them have printer sharing checked.

I was able to successfully install the printer on the connecting mac. Both macs report that the printer is installed, working successfully, and all that jazz...but the host mac doesn't see any print jobs that come from the other computer.

update: Got it fixed. Turned out the root problem was that the server was sharing two printers, and I hadn't specified the print queue, just the printer type. So it didn't know where to send the job once it got to the other computer.

It would have been nice to get some sort of error message to aid in troubleshooting, but at least it works now.
