6800GT 2600 Dkr. ($433)
6800Ultra 3400 Dkr. ($566)
7800GTX 3900 Dkr. ($650)

I can understand if the budget isn't for a 7800GTX, but who would buy the 6800Ultra? And the 7800GTX isn't that extremely high priced compared to the 6800GT when you think of the extra performance you get with the 7800GTX.

Yeah, the Ultra's are only like 20-40 bucks cheaper than a GTX over here; they never drop the price on the last gen highend (like a year ago when 9800XT's were still 300-400 bucks, only slightly cheaper than GT's and x800 Pro's). I'm pretty sure it's a matter of the reseller buying it at a certain price and while they can drop the price some, they can't just drop a 100 bucks off it to accomodate the new generation because that means they take a loss on the product. I had the same thing last night when a friend wanted a 6800Ultra and I had to convince him that a twice as fast card (GTX) for 9 bucks more was the only way to go. Of course if you want to see really tragic examples of prices on old gen, go look at the NewEgg refurb video cards. GF3Ti refurb for only 99.99, where do I sign up!
