Weird power issue with A8N-E

After I turn on and then turn off the computer "safely," the thing won't power up again no matter how long I wait until I push the power button again unless I restart the power button on the PSU. This is so weird...local computer "techs" call it the "new" ASUS mb protection scheme.

What the heck...I have never seen a computer so busted! Is this a BIOS issue? or mb failure? my PSU is stable 330W designed for Athlon 64, FX, X2. It's just very annoying to have to shut the power on the PSU after turning off the computer and then turn on the PSU before powering up again. BTW....resetting works fine.

ASUS tech support told me to update BIOS...but I found no information on newly updated BIOS that documented the correction of this problem. Could some gurus help?

What brand is your PSU? If it's not a name brand (Antec, Enermax, OCZ, Thermaltake, etc) then it's probably generic, meaning bad quality.

What is the +12V rail rated at (how many Amps).

my psu is Seasonic S12...it's kinda well received here in Taiwan. Already changed PSU before from a generic one.

Hi Astro-
I am also in asia, and built my sig system in Jan. I also had a Seasonic, with dual rails, and more than enough rated 12v amps on each rail. Nonetheless, I had a mountain of issues until I changed my PSU to the single rail PSU in my sig.

hi guys... i got the same problem but i am using a8n5x.

TheNiceGuy, how do i figure out my psu has single rail or dual rails?

i am using a local brand call 2themax, its rated 420W w/ 526W max and +12v has 30a...

i have been using this psu for a long time actually... w/ my nf7-s setup
