MOnth or so back, upgrade 5=1ombps hubs to 10/100 layer 2 unmanaged switches (no need for managed for what we do and had a VERY low budget to work with). After getting everything set up (running MUCH faster BTW), I have noticed SEVERAL of my workstations having trouble with their outlook. Server is Nt 4. and the OS on workstations having trouble vary between 95/98. Outllok is version 97. ALways says their is trouble with spooler or mapisp32.exe. Upgrading to Outlook 2k always solves the problem.
Could be unrelated to the switch upgrade, but it has only happened since the upgrade. Anyone see anything like this before?

Don't know about the switch being the problem but Outlook 97 was VERY buggy. You should be at Outlook 98 at least.

Seconded...

It cannot be caused by upgrading the backbone - nothing that will affect programs has changed. (apart from network access speed of course, but you can't kill a program by removing a bottleneck...)

Another one crapped out today. What could casue this system wide? I kinda figured it would be tough to be the upgrade, but what could it be? They seem to be all going at around the same time (within a month or so). Even a laptop I had reformatted WELL after the other computers were ever set up crapped out today. what a PITA!

I've had that very issue with Outlook 97.... All I did was backup the messages in the guy's inbox on the server, then cleaned out the messages sitting on the server, and it fixed his problem.... Apparently it didn't like some of the messages on the server... Why I don't know.. It is worth a shot though.

Have you installed any patches or updates to Outlook 97? You may want to try that as well.
