Greetings,
I had a floppy that I never use lying around so I went ahead and threw it in my system (despite thinking floppies are the spawn of satan... who knows I might have to reinstall some SATA RAID controllers 2 years from now) and made sure it was working.
Soon after I did so, I noticed I had my DVD-Burner sharing a cable with my spare HD, so I switched I put it on it's own cable and my Lite-On CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive and backup HD on the same IDE cable. That's when the weirdness happened.
Now, whenever I put any cd or dvd in the combo drive and close it, my system stops. No blue screen, no crash... it just stops. Can't even wiggle the cursor after about 5 seconds. When I hit the eject button, it immediately works again. I originally had the combo drive on master, the backup HD on slave. I tried setting both to cable select. Still had the same problem. Both drives are being detected by the BIOS. I unplugged the backup HD and the combo drive worked fine. When I plugged back in the HD, problem came back. I uninstalled and reinstalled the combo drive... didn't fix the problem.
I've never seen anything quite like this. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kev
